Film & Video Production. Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere.
// Ray Giarratana
Ray and his difficult Italian name (“jer-a-tanna”) have been a staple
in the commercial industry for many years. For 6 years he was a
Visual Effects Supervisor at Digital Domain. Joining Limbo Films
as a Commercial
Director to pursue live action work, Ray brings a strong sense
for comedic timing and animated performances. His Directorial credits
include spots for Coca-Cola, Budweiser, Pontiac, and Hallmark. One
of his recent accomplishments has been directing the 70mm film “Artist’s
Journey: Funk Blast” for the new Experience Music Project in Seattle.
As Visual Effects Supervisor, he lent his talents to spots for Mercedes-Benz,
AT&T, Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, the entire Budweiser “Louie the
Lizard” campaign and many others. During that phase of his career
Ray worked with many notable directors including: David Kellogg,
Bruce Doward, Michael Bay, Jan de Bont, Joe Pytka, Bob Geraldi,
Jeff Gorman, Mark Coppos, Brent Thomas, Peter Nydrle, Eric Sararinen,
Frank Todaro and a bunch more rich guys with fancy names. Before
Digital Domain, Ray spent 7 years with Pacific Data Images serving
as a Visual Effects Supervisor on numerous commercials and
music videos including Michael Jackson’s infamous “Black or White.”
Ray’s early years were spent as a sound engineer for various concert
venues across South Florida working with big name comedians including
Joan Rivers, David Brenner, Paul Reiser, Shecky Greene, Freddie
Roman and many others forming the comedic sensibilities that he
draws on to this day. All this experience in film
production makes Ray a perfect choice for your Director, whenever
comedy and post effects collide. Ray has won numerous awards for
his work, including Clios, AICP awards, and national Emmy’s. He
lives in Los Angeles and loves any excuse to get out of there, even
if for just a meeting.
