One of the only national caliber independent film production companies
in the Northwest, Limbo Films is owned by Director and Photographer
Gary Nolton. Limbo has been independently growing, filming, creating
and producing award-winning work since 1995. Though Limbo Films
is based in Portland, Oregon, its reach spans the country. From
filming street youth playing “futbol” in Mexico City, to jumping
state-to-state to capture a Nike athlete, Limbo has independently
filmed in countless environments, locations and situations.
Limbo is rare in having attained the reputation and reach of
its productions for a company that is independent. In order to
compete against the breadth and scope of the independent film
production community in Los Angeles, many production companies
around the country have had to merge with a larger, often Los
Angeles based, company. For Nolton however, one of the principle
tenets in developing Limbo Films has been maintaining it’s independence.
One key component on the reward side of the equation is the detailed
and specific attention that limbo is able to serve to its clients.
The fast paced, pressured, and demanding aspects of the film industry
are met well with this strong component of Limbo. When a challenge
arrives, there isn’t a delayed chain of command that the person
or company must travel to in finding it’s solution at Limbo. Combining
this attention with the experience of Nolton and Limbo’s other
directors is a unique force. In producing and filming for clients
ranging in size and location, Limbo is continually fine tuned
with Nolton’s desire to offer the very best independent
