Ray Giarratana

Ray and his difficult Italian name (“jer-a-tanna”) have been a staple in the commercial industry for many years.  Six of them at Digital Domain, originally as Visual Effects Supervisor and later as a Commercial Director. Joining Limbo Films in 2002, to pursue live action work, Ray brings to all his work a strong sense for comedic timing and performance.

His Directorial credits include spots for Coca-Cola, Budweiser, Pontiac and Hallmark.  One of his recent accomplishments has been directing the 70mm  film “Artist’s Journey:  Funk Blast” for the new Experience Music Project in Seattle.

As Visual Effects Supervisor, he lent his talents to spots for Mercedes-Benz, AT&T, Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, the entire Budweiser “Louie the Lizard” campaign and many others.  During that phase of his career Ray worked with many notable directors including:  David Kellogg, Bruce Doward, Michael Bay, Jan de Bont, Joe Pytka, Bob Geraldi, Jeff Gorman, Mark Coppos, Brent Thomas, Peter Nydrle, Eric Sararinen, Frank Todaro and a bunch more guys with accents.

Before Digital Domain, Ray spent 7 years with Pacific Data Images serving as a Visual Effects Supervisor on numerous commercials and music videos including Michael Jackson’s infamous “Black or White.”

Ray has won numerous awards for his work, including Clios, AICP awards, and national Emmy’s. He lives in Los Angeles and loves any excuse to get out of there, even if for just a meeting.

If you missed it's Superbowl premiere, you probably live under some sort of large boulder. But, if you are lucky enough to have four walls and indoor plumbing, you most likely saw one of the sexiest antismoking ads out there. Ray teaches us that if you too want win the heart of a greek goddess; you gotta pull that cancer stick out of your mouth.

Title:
Delivery Guy

Q: What's the best part about ordering a pizza?

A) waiting an hour for it to be delivered.
B)
how cold and stiff it is when it finally.does arrive.
C) being obliged to tip the greasy slacker who brought it.

Ray directs a performance that makes us question why we would ever order delivery, when we can make our own Papa Murphy's pizza.

Ray is quickly becoming a master at directing both subtle comedic performance, and broad physical situations, and this spot displays that beautifully. It has a quality that makes you want to see it over
and over again. It's one of a two spot campaign and some of Ray's best work yet.
