Chris Fyan

Chris’ interest in filmmaking began at the age of twelve when he served as special effects supervisor on several of his brother’s super 8 films. Distracted by the glorious world of heavy metal, Chris focused his teen years on becoming a great speed metal bassist. After a stint in the band, Noxious Obnoxious, Chris turned his focus back to film.

While studying communication, he dusted off an old 16mm camera and began to shoot short films and win a few awards. He continued to work his way through the filmmaking world in the Pacific Northwest, serving in several capacities including camera assistant, production designer, still photographer, and cinematographer.

In 2003, Chris began directing commercials and has developed a distinct ability to craft unique performances, both broad and subtle. Although he works in many genres, Chris has an innate sense for comedy and dialogue. His style, described as comic realism combined with visual elegance, works harmoniously to convey unique brand qualities.

Clients love Chris’ distinct vision and down to earth style. His work has received much praise including multiple Tellys, several regional ADDYS, a National Gold ADDY Special Judges Award, and Cannes shortlist. Chris’ clients include Microsoft, Comcast, Columbia Credit Union, Washington State University, and Edge Wireless. His musical taste has broadened significantly .

Good Enough

Get it done right the first time. The logic seems so simple. Both written and directed by Chris, this spot showcases his ability to use subtlety to express the absurd. The notion here is preposterous, conveying the message that mediocrity and cavalier attitudes are unacceptable.

Coffee Lush light and rich shadows…Rwanda rebuilt in the Northwest. WSU is doing great things in the world, and partnered with agency Copacino + Fujikado, they called on Chris to recreate faraway places in our own backyard.
